A driver died early Saturday morning, Sept. 18, following a five-vehicle collision on Interstate 15 northbound in Woods Cross.
According to Trooper Sanchez of the Utah Highway Patrol, the accident occurred after a silver sedan traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and struck the rear of a semi truck.
The impact caused the semi truck to lose control of its trailer, which then crashed into three additional vehicles. The driver of the silver sedan was declared deceased at the scene.
The roadway remained closed for investigation until approximately 10 a.m.
Authorities are withholding the identity of the deceased driver pending notification of next-of-kin.
