Woods Cross High School is calling for parents and guardians to participate in the School Community Council. According to a notice from the school, there are currently three open two-year positions available on the council.
The council meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 2:30 pm. Serving on the council allows parents and teachers to help improve academic performance at the school. The council reviews and prepares annual academic plans for students, which are then reviewed for final approval by the school board. The council also serves in an advisory capacity to school and school district administrations.
In Utah, every public school maintains a School Community Council consisting of school employees elected by employees and parents elected by parents of students attending the school. Parent members are required to have a student attending the school during at least one of the two years of their term and must pass a background check.
Applications for the open positions must be submitted via the provided form by Friday, August 28th at 11:30 pm. Elections were scheduled to be held in the DSD from August 31st through August 7th at 3:00 pm, according to the school notice.
