Scott Mitchell knew from a young age that football could be his future. I had a dream, and I had something that I believed at a young age, Mitchell said. I was in sixth grade, and it was my career choice. But Mitchell played during the 1980s and 1990s, when the understanding of concussions and other head injuries was far different from what it is today.
