Salt Lake City Fire is updating the city's existing Community Wildfire Protection Plan to reflect current wildland fire risk, updated planning boundaries, and refreshed preparedness and mitigation priorities, according to a notice on the city's website.
The update process aims to refresh the plan with updated planning boundary maps, stakeholder input, and feedback from subject matter experts. The project team is also collecting surveys regarding critical infrastructure.
Community members can participate by completing a public survey to share concerns, perceived wildland fire risk areas, preparedness needs, and ideas for reducing risk. This input is intended to help validate technical data and ensure the plan reflects local priorities and community experience.
This effort builds upon the city's previous wildfire preparedness planning and ongoing risk reduction work rather than starting a new plan from scratch. The community feedback phase was scheduled to run from August 27, 2026, through September 30, 2026.
