Statewide Level 1 and Level 2 fire restrictions were lifted as of Friday, September 4, according to a notice from Summit County Government. Despite the lifting of statewide restrictions, local fire district rules remain active in several areas.
Level 1 restrictions remain active within the boundaries of the Park City Fire District and the North Summit Fire Service District. In these areas, open fires are permitted only in approved, permanent fire pits, while cutting, welding, and grinding are strictly prohibited.
Local fire restrictions have been lifted for the South Summit Fire District. However, all three fire districts are currently not issuing burn permits.
Officials stated that fire safety remains a priority despite easing restrictions. Residents are encouraged to check UtahFireInfo.gov for current restriction orders and specific details before recreating. The Rocky Canyon Fire has reached 100% containment within Summit County boundaries, and all official evacuation statuses have been lifted. While evacuation statuses are no longer in effect, firefighting efforts continue and some road closures remain in place.
