In a report published August 18, BYU senior tailback LJ Martin was named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List. The award is bestowed annually upon the nation's most outstanding tailback.
Martin, a senior from El Paso, Texas, recorded 1,305 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns for the Cougars last season. He also contributed 36 receptions for 255 yards.
Martin and his BYU teammates were scheduled to start the season on September 5 by hosting Utah Tech at LaVell Edwards Stadium in a non-conference game.
