.CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Present: Lisa Becerra, Cathy Burton, Rosane Coleman, Chuck Dillard, Hal Luke, Karl Schatten, Kathy Van Dame, Jeff Webster

Hal Luke called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
.APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The June 24, 2026 minutes were approved on a motion by Kathy Van Dame and seconded by Cathy Burton.
.SPECIAL RECOGNITION
.CITIZEN COMMENT(S)
Leann Parker-Reed mentioned that the MSRC Advisory Board is the best in the City as the board members are always doing, solving problems, have a voice in the City, and are willing to collaborate.
.BUSINESS ITEM(S)
Shannon Sorensen New Coordinator
Shannon came from the Murray Park Center and has great ideas and energy for her new position
Discussion on Charging Overall Fitness and Attendance Requirements
41 seniors are registered for Overall Fitness. Cory mentioned that we are considering charging a $5 fee for the semester. People are more committed if they have paid for something. The class size

should be reduced to 30. The Board voted to charge $10 instead. Cory also referenced having an attendance policy of seniors losing their place in the class if missing class 5 times. The Board voted to implement a 3-time late policy instead. The Overall Fitness class is important in helping to build bone density, increase balance, and build muscle.
Increase Haircut Prices
Increase the price from $12 to $15 to provide a raise for our barber

Offices should be done this weekend and should take only 1–2 weeks more.

Recap on Selected Programs
Liberty Tea – Full, well-thought-out, the readers' theater play was great
Balance Class – Lots of positive feedback; fitness is critical at our age
Dine and Delight – majority like the music, but there are a few complaints because the seniors want to talk. It is a short 30-minute program. Mixed feeling … part of lunch is to socialize with friends. The dining room does have acoustic problems.
Upcoming Event: Senior Citizen Day in August
Pirate theme, Ice Cream from Leatherbys and karaoke
Concert Etiquette
The seniors are disrespectful talking during performances
The Board Member who introduces the band will remind everyone to be quiet and respectful
.REPORT(S)
Director's Report by Cory Plant
Ken is moving to Utah County, so we will be looking for a new choir director
Parks and Recreation – have more collaboration between departments; we will be having Silver Splash Aqua Fitness class again in the Shallow Pool at Park Center on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The board members are making a huge difference at the Center. Lots of positive feedback from Jeff and the City Council on the comments made at the City Council meetings and the voice that our Board Members have. There have also been a lot of compliments on our Fun Days Parade entry this year.
Be sure to record any of your volunteer hours in the time sheet binder that is kept at the Front Desk.
Information about background checks will be coming.

Board of Trustee Comments
Kathy VanDame mentioned a concern about the tossing of candy during the Fun Days parade and the risk of toddlers/children running out in the street to pick up the candy.
Rosane Coleman suggested having one person walking beside each vehicle to help the driver to navigate the parade route.

Jeff Webster suggested having meatballs as cannonballs for pirate-themed food for the Senior Citizen event.
Jeff also mentioned that the TV in the fitness room only has one working channel
Chuck Dillard mentioned that the recent increase of activity on Facebook is good. He mentioned a concern about the photos posted on Facebook. Need to check approvals.
Jeff referenced the last board meeting and the suggestion of having prisoners meeting with the seniors. Cory said there is no follow-up on the prison program. Murray School District said no to a senior reading program.
.ADJOURNMENT
The next scheduled meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 26, at 8:30 a.m. MST at the Murray Senior Recreation Center, 10 East 6150 South, Murray, Utah.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:38 a.m. on a motion by Kathy Van Dame and seconded by Chuck Dillard. Minutes recorded by April Callaway.
