Abner Aroldo Avila, 21, has been arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred in West Point on May 30, 2026. According to the Davis County Sheriff's Office, Avila was apprehended in California and is currently being held while awaiting extradition to Utah.
The arrest followed an investigation by the Davis County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from law enforcement partners in California. The Davis County Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant charging Avila with one count of murder.
This development follows the previous apprehension of Axel Eduardo Chavez Marroquin, who was taken into custody by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department as part of the same homicide investigation.
The Davis County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation for the agencies that assisted in locating and apprehending both suspects. The investigation remains active, and officials stated that no additional information is being released at this time.
