Lehi is accepting applications for a full-time justice court judge position to serve the city, according to a September 15 statement. The position will be filled to replace Judge Morgan Cummings, who is scheduled to resign his position in October.
To be eligible for the judgeship in Utah County, candidates must be at least 25 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Applicants must have been a Utah resident for at least three years and hold a degree from a law school that allows for admission to a bar in any state in the United States. Additionally, candidates must be a resident of Utah County or an adjacent county either upon appointment or before taking the bench.
Interested individuals must complete a judicial office application online at justicecourtvacancies.utah.gov. The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The salary for the position ranges from $147,886 to $190,139 per year and includes benefits.
The selection process involves the Judicial Nominating Commission submitting at least three nominees to Mayor Paul Binns within 45 days of its first meeting. Mayor Binns has 30 days to select a finalist, which must then be ratified by the Lehi City Council and certified by the Utah Judicial Council.
