A 27-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital on Saturday after being pulled unconscious from the water at Sand Hollow State Park.
The man, who is from Tooele County, was swimming when he became fatigued and unable to continue, according to a statement from the Utah Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement.
Bystanders at the scene noticed the man and pulled him from the water. After the man was removed from the water, bystanders initiated CPR before first responders took over his care.
The Utah Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement stated that the individual was transported by helicopter for advanced medical treatment but noted that his condition is currently unknown.
The agency expressed gratitude to the bystanders and to Hurricane Valley Fire & EMS, Washington County Search and Rescue, and Intermountain Life Flight for their rapid response during the incident.
