Salt Lake City is undertaking a reconstruction of 1100 West between Hayes Avenue and American Avenue, according to a notice on the city's website. The project involves the full reconstruction of the asphalt roadway and repairs to sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and driveway approaches as needed.
In an August 2026 update, officials stated that concrete work was complete. Crews were scheduled to begin breaking up the road, grading, and compacting the road base the week of August 24, with repaving scheduled for the week of August 31. Road access may be interrupted during this work.
The project includes surface treatment on the Jordan River Trail and fence replacement along the trail. Improvements to the trail are intended to improve safety as well as walkability and bikeability. Additionally, curb ramps will be reconstructed to meet current ADA standards.
During construction, residents may experience daytime noise, dust, and intermittent access limitations from Monday to Friday. On-street parking restrictions will be in place, and new concrete infrastructure, including driveway approaches, will require a seven-day cure time.
Construction may disturb landscaping, though the project team stated they will restore impacted landscaping in kind, such as replacing grass with seed or sod. While crews will attempt to avoid irrigation lines and sprinkler heads, the project team will coordinate repairs if irrigation infrastructure is damaged. However, the team cannot reimburse for repairs completed by third parties.
Garbage collection is expected to continue as normal. Residents should set their bins out as usual, and crews will move them if necessary.
