Syracuse City residents may notice changes in their monthly utility bills due to annual updates that took effect in July. These changes are part of the Fiscal Year 2026–2027 budget and follow a rate study cost-of-service analysis.
The utility rate updates involve six different services, with total monthly changes amounting to $7.89. Specific increases include:
Culinary water: $2.01, driven by Weber Basin Water rates, personnel, and state reporting customer portal requirements.
NDSD Sewer Maintenance Fee: $0.22 for personnel.
Storm Sewer: $0.39 for personnel.
Secondary water: $0.27, due to personnel, state reporting customer portal requirements, and rate increases from irrigation companies.
Park Maintenance: $1.91 to fund three park maintenance positions.
Emergency Dispatch: $3.09.
A new Emergency Dispatch Services Fee has been introduced this fiscal year to cover all costs associated with dispatch services. This includes expenses related to the transition from Davis County Dispatch to the Layton Dispatch Center. The revenue from this fee is dedicated to dispatch operations, technology, staffing, and other expenses required to connect residents with emergency responders.
The transition to the Layton Dispatch Center is intended to maintain reliable access to high-quality emergency communications, as dispatchers act as the primary contact during police, fire, and medical emergencies.
