The City of Tremonton's Public Works Department is working to maintain and improve local infrastructure, including streets, water systems, and wastewater facilities. In a notice posted to the city's website, officials detailed ongoing efforts to address secondary water pressure issues and upcoming wastewater treatment plant upgrades.
The city is currently working to install an additional pump to address recurring secondary water pressure issues that occur during peak irrigation times. Residents experiencing pressure problems are advised to check and clean filters, as debris and moss buildup can restrict water flow.
Regarding wastewater management, major upgrades to the City's wastewater treatment plant are scheduled to begin this year. This project is expected to be completed in 2029 and will be carried out in three phases. The City Council has approved $7.2 million to replace a secondary clarifier and a failing aeration basin. Additional funding is needed for headworks improvements, a second secondary clarifier, and digester and dewatering improvements to ensure compliance and support growth. The Public Works Department intends to ask the City Council to fund these additional improvements.
The City's Culinary Water and Sewer Capital Facilities Plans are nearing completion and are expected to be finalized within the next month. These plans aim to identify infrastructure needs and prioritize projects over the next ten years to prepare for future growth.
Planned projects for next spring include repaving, regrading, and pulverizing 10th West from Main Street southward, as well as extending Bear River Mountain Road by approximately 80 feet. The city also reported that planned projects for the current summer have been successfully completed.
