The Escalante City Council scheduled a regular meeting for September 15, 2026, to be held at the Escalante City Council Chambers located at 65 North Center Street. The meeting was set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
The agenda for the meeting includes the adoption of the agenda and the approval of the minutes from the September 1, 2026, regular meeting. Public comment is allotted for individuals to express ideas, concerns, or comments regarding items not listed on the agenda, with a two-minute maximum per person.
Scheduled items for the meeting include a Constitution Week Proclamation by Harriet Priska, a scarecrow contest involving Cassie Mack, and a donation for a Washington DC trip from the Escalante 6th Grade Class. Other scheduled topics include an asphalt bid for a shade structure, a URS Tier 2 update regarding policies and procedures, and an estimate for a landfill fence.
Department reports are scheduled to be provided by administrative, public works, and fire departments. Council members are assigned to various oversight areas, including Mayor Melani Torgersen for employees, cemetery, and the fire department; Chad Lyman for water; Tara Woolsey for the airport; Ryan Cottam for streets and storm water drainage; Marlene Stowe for building, parks and recreation, Main Street, and the clinic; and Sally Orme for sanitation and the landfill.
The meeting was organized to allow for an electronic option via Zoom. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals requiring special accommodations were asked to notify City Recorder Stephanie Steed at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
