The Weber Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees met in public session on July 13, 2026, at the district office in Ogden, according to a report published August 6. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Ryan Barker and included a review of June financial reports and mosquito control operations.
During the session, the board approved a price amendment for the current aerial spray contract with VDCI. Due to rising fuel costs, the board voted unanimously to increase the granular application rate from $6.00 per acre to $7.20 per acre for the remainder of the contract.
Financial reports for June showed total expenses of $132,156.64, consisting of $126,484.55 in General Fund Expenditures and $5,672.09 in Capital Expenses. Year-to-date expenses were reported at 53%. The Public Treasurer’s Investment Fund balance stood at $1,856,402.74, while the Bank of Utah checking account balance was $209,553.17 as of June 30, 2026.
Director Keith Hill provided a community report regarding mosquito control activities. In June, the district performed ground larviciding on 100 acres and aerial larviciding on 775 acres, which included 301 acres treated by UAV.
Additionally, the district conducted adulticiding on 49,376.26 areas by ground and 3,840 areas by air. While the district has received 80 spray requests to date, officials noted this is substantially lower than previous years. Surveillance traps are operational, and 64 pools tested for West Nile Virus have all returned negative results.
The meeting concluded at 6:15 pm following a motion to adjourn by Trustee Jed Jenkins and a second by Trustee Sallee Orr.
