Kensington Palace released a new video to mark the 13th birthday of Prince George. The video featured the prince playing cricket and climbing rocks at a beach in Cornwall during Easter.
In addition to the video, a formal photograph of the prince was released on social media. The image, taken by photographer Matt Porteous at Kensington Palace last month following the Trooping the Colour ceremony, showed George wearing a dark suit and an open-necked white shirt.
This year's portrait was noted as being more formal than the previous year's photo, which featured a rural setting in Norfolk. The change in presentation coincides with the prince's transition into his teenage years and his upcoming enrollment in secondary school.
Prince George is scheduled to begin his studies at Eton College in September. He will follow in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, as well as his uncle, Prince Harry, and his great uncle, Earl Spencer, who all attended the elite private school.
George will become a boarder at one of the 25 boarding houses at Eton. He previously attended Lambrook School in Berkshire alongside his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The transition to secondary school follows a period of increasing public visibility for the prince. George has participated in events such as the Trooping the Colour parade in London and has been seen supporting charities alongside Prince William.
