A fire in Magna has burned an estimated 30 acres, prompting evacuations and the opening of a center for evacuees. The fire, which started on Thursday afternoon, was reported as uncontained at the time of the last report.
According to a Utah Fire Info notice, firefighters have successfully stopped forward progress at this time. Crews are continuing to work aggressively around the perimeter to secure the incident. Current evacuations remain in place until further notice.
Residents who evacuate can go to the Broadway Building at 3151 S. Broadway.
A Magna City Statement requested that people avoid the area of 7200 West near the fire. Officials advised using alternate routes to reduce traffic and allow emergency responders quick access to the scene.
