Orem football routed Spanish Fork 48-0 in a game shortened by the mercy rule. The Golden Tigers, wearing gold helmets, dominated the matchup to move to a 2-0 record in Region 7 play.
Orem's offense featured scoring drives led by senior quarterback Tanner Lewis, who completed two touchdown passes. Beckham Curtis contributed three short touchdown runs, including a 1-yard run in the second quarter. Rock Speredon, a transfer from Roy, also threw two touchdown passes in the second half.
The Orem defense held Spanish Fork to 113 total yards of offense and forced four turnovers, including three interceptions and one fumble. The game ended early in the fourth quarter after Manti Casuga scored on a 7-yard pass from Rock Speredon.
Orem enters a bye week following the win and is scheduled to travel to Timpview on Sept. 25. Spanish Fork, with an overall record of 3-2, is scheduled to host Pleasant Grove next week.
