Lone Peak's girls soccer team scored six second-half goals to defeat No. 3 American Fork 6-0 on Thursday, Sept. 10, according to a September 11 report. The win extended the No. 2-ranked Knights' winning streak to eight straight games.
The victory improved the Knights to a 9-3 overall record and 3-0 in Region 3. Head coach Shantel Jolley described the performance as the team's most complete game of the season. This win follows a period where the Knights' previous three victories were decided in overtime.
The scoring began two minutes into the second half when Indy Jackson scored on a corner kick. Sadie Stratton converted a penalty kick two minutes later. Sasha Castro then scored twice within four minutes to reach a 4-0 lead by the 54th minute. Jane Christensen added a long-range shot in the 69th minute, and Castro completed a hat trick shortly after to finalize the 6-0 score.
Four different Knights players scored during the match. Sasha Castro recorded three goals, while Sadie Stratton, Indy Jackson, and Jane Christensen each contributed one goal. This performance marks a turnaround for the team after starting the season with a 1-3 record containing losses to Park City, Green Canyon, and Crimson Cliffs.
Lone Peak was scheduled to travel to Skyridge for a Region 3 matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
