The Murray City School Board met at the District office on December 18, 2025, to review several items regarding facility use and academic programming. The meeting, led by Board President Kelly Taeoalii, included discussions on rental feasibility for local grounds and upcoming changes to middle school structures.
Superintendent Jennifer Covington presented information regarding the potential rental of the field at Hillcrest Junior High School. According to Covington, maintenance supervisor Rod Pace indicated that improvements to the field make it viable for community rental. The discussion included costs from three bids for necessary fencing if the rental proceeds.
Regarding secondary education, Bruce Eschler, Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning, presented a list of proposed course offerings for a new middle school model. This model, which would include grades 6, 7, and 8, is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2027.
The board also engaged in facility planning discussions led by Superintendent Covington concerning future elementary schools within the Murray City School District. The conversation addressed the appropriate number of operating elementary schools, the impact of school size, and the importance of gathering community input.
No official board action was taken on any of the study items presented during the session. The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
