The Toquerville City Council held a meeting on August 5, 2026, to address various municipal business items, including development updates and property management. Mayor Dan Catlin presided over the session, which addressed topics ranging from utility infrastructure to local ordinance discussions.
During the meeting, Mike Chandler of the Ash Creek Special Services District provided updates regarding the installation of new sewer lines and pump stations in Toquerville. He also mentioned a groundbreaking with the Washington County Water Conservancy District and the annexation of Solara into the city.
Chief Robert Hooper of the Hurricane Valley Fire District reported that Station 3 responded to 130 calls in July, with 30 of those occurring in Toquerville. He also noted that the property for a new headquarters station has been finalized with the Washington County Water Conservancy District.
Assistant City Manager Darrin LeFevre presented visual updates on several local developments, including Westfield Park, Firelight Development, Chief Toquer Reservoir, IME Automations, and Boulder Ridge Development.
The council approved a Conditional Use Permit for an accessory building located at 83 N Toquer Blvd. The application, submitted by Missy Kleinman, requested a maximum height exceeding the 18-foot limit for the residential district.
Additionally, the council approved Change Order #005 for $5,721.18 to cover electrical conduit and concrete replacement near a playground. The motion to approve the change order was passed with a 5-0 vote, with the total not to exceed $5,800.
The council discussed the possibility of adding quiet hours to the city's Nuisance Ordinance following discussions regarding a recently approved nightly rental. Mayor Catlin suggested that staff consult with the City Prosecutor regarding the matter.
Mayor Catlin also declared the city's intent to dispose of a piece of donated public property identified by Tax ID W-227-E. City Attorney Kayla Gothard stated that a public hearing would be held regarding this matter.
The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss litigation, security, property, and personnel matters. The session ended at 7:45 p.m., followed by the adjournment of the meeting.
