The Council approved a nightly rental application for a property at 1115 S. Westfield Road, submitted by Derek Bergstrom. The approval, which passed with a 4-1 vote, included conditions requiring quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and an updated online listing reflecting a maximum occupancy of 10 people. During the discussion, Councilman Sands expressed concerns regarding the enforcement of nightly rentals.
Zoning changes were also approved, including an ordinance to change the zoning for parcels T-3-0-22-233 and T-3-0-27-144 from Residential to Highway Commercial. Following this, the Council granted a conditional use permit to BAEF LLC for Zion Toquerville Storage, a vehicle storage and rental facility located at Tax ID T-3-0-22-233. The permit allows for a 24-hour security residence on-site and is limited to 9 acres.
In a 3-2 vote, the Council approved a resolution to withdraw support for the Washington County Drug Task Force. Additionally, the Council approved an ordinance to establish a process for the removal of Planning Commission members following changes to state code. The meeting concluded with a discussion regarding the use of city materials for a Pioneer Day event and a request to continue discussions on the Wildland Urban Interface Map at a later date.
