Saratoga Springs Fire & Rescue crews partnered with Utah State Parks on Friday evening to rescue three paddleboarders who were swept away from the shore of Utah Lake by a powerful windstorm. The rescue operation, which took place around 7:00 p.m., successfully brought all three individuals back to safety without any reported injuries.
Windstorm pushes paddleboarders offshore
The rescue mission was triggered when strong winds and rough waves pushed the group of paddleboarders into open water, leaving them unable to safely return to the shoreline. The group involved in the incident included a 16-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy, and a 21-year-old man.

According to reports from Saratoga Springs Fire & Rescue, the sudden weather event created conditions that made navigating the lake difficult for the three individuals. While all three persons were successfully brought home safely, officials noted that two of the three paddleboarders were wearing life jackets at the time of the rescue.
