Layton High School announced that Shrek: The Musical will be the LHS Productions mainstage musical this year. Auditions for the production are open to all students.
Students auditioning are asked to prepare 32 bars of a song from a musical or movie musical that matches the style of the character they are pursuing. If the student is unsure, an upbeat song they can perform well is recommended. Performers should arrive 15 minutes early to be sized for costumes and to complete an audition form. Professional dress is required for the audition. Students may use a piano, a YouTube karaoke track on a provided computer, or a phone connected to a Bluetooth speaker, though acapella auditions are not permitted. Those with a headshot and resume should bring them to the audition.
A mandatory meeting for students and parents was scheduled for September 29 at 6 p.m. in the black box theatre, room B115, to provide information regarding auditions, performances, and parent volunteer opportunities.
Callbacks were scheduled for Monday, October 12, from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. by invitation only. The callback list was to be posted on the Shrek Canvas page on the morning of Friday, October 9. Being excluded from the callback list does not mean a student is not in the show, but rather that they are not being considered for certain roles.
