Utah State soccer opened the home portion of its 2026 campaign with a 2-2 draw against Big Ten opponent Michigan on Sunday night at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field, according to a August 16 report.
While the Aggies maintained control for most of the match with a strong defense, Michigan secured the draw by scoring two goals late in the contest.
The Aggies established an early lead with two goals in the first half. In the 19th minute, junior forward Mia Mullenmeister scored on a left-footed chip following a 50-yard pass from junior defender Kaeda Wilson. Sophomore midfielder Mia Lopez extended the lead in the 32nd minute after a ball ricocheted into the box.
Michigan began their comeback in the 69th minute when Ella Jablinskey scored from near the sideline. The Wolverines tied the game in the final second of the match when Ellie Fife scored on a long ball that bounced past the keeper.
Utah State finished the game with 16 shots compared to Michigan's five shots. The Aggies also held a 9-4 advantage in shots on frame. Senior goalkeeper Allee Grashoff played the full 90 minutes and recorded two saves.
Three Aggies tied for the team high in shots with three each: senior forward Kate Christian, senior midfielder Summer Diamond, and sophomore forward Samantha Sellers.
Utah State is scheduled to host Portland on Thursday, Aug. 20, at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field at 7:30 p.m.
