Fruit Heights City is currently accepting new names to be engraved on the Veterans Memorial. According to a notice on the city's website, an online application and a $50 donation must be submitted by Wednesday, October 7.
To be listed on the memorial, the veteran must have served in the U.S. Military and must have lived in Fruit Heights at some point in their life. New names are engraved once a year and unveiled for Veterans Day.
The Veterans Memorial was unveiled on Saturday, August 24, 2024, as part of Founder's Day, with a formal dedication held on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2024. Rock'n Signs and Features created the memorial for the community.
The committee continues to seek donations to cover costs for lights, cement work, landscaping, and engraving new names. Donations can be made at Fruit Heights City Hall, located at 910 S. Mountain Road, by calling 801-546-0861, or through online donations.
The memorial recognizes those who have been or are now residents of Fruit Heights and have served in the United States armed forces. Applications require the veteran's name, branch of service, permission to place the name on the memorial, and certification of honorable discharge or current service.
