A three-year-old child was killed and two others were injured during a vehicle crash on I-15 near Cedar City on Mar. 29.
According to public safety officials, the incident occurred when the child began crying in the back seat. As the driver reached back to provide a bottle, the vehicle drifted off the shoulder of the road.
The driver attempted to correct the vehicle, which resulted in a collision with a guardrail and caused the vehicle to roll.
Department of Public Safety officials reported that the two occupants in the front of the Toyota 4-runner were wearing seat-belts. The three-year-old child was wearing only a regular lap belt and was not properly restrained.
The child was ejected from the vehicle and died from injuries sustained in the crash. The passenger was transported to Dixie Regional Hospital with serious injuries, while the driver sustained only minor injuries.
