The film The Librarians will be screened at the Salt Lake City Public Library Nancy Tessman Auditorium on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. The event begins at 6:30 pm and is free to attend.
The screening is sponsored by Let Utah Read and the Texas Freedom to Read Project.
The film provides a look at coordinated efforts to ban books and highlights librarians who resist legislative and grassroots attempts to remove books from school and public libraries. The documentary discusses how the Krause List in Texas targets 850 books related to race and LGBTQIA+ stories, contributing to book bans across the United States.
A post-film panel will follow the screening. The panel includes Utah author Shannon Hale, Representative Sahara Hayes, Laney Hawes of the Texas Freedom to Read Project, and Rebekah Cummings, Co-Founder of Let Utah Read. Eli McCann, a columnist for the Salt Lake Tribune, will serve as the moderator.
Attendees should note that seating is limited and an RSVP is required. The film is not rated and contains adult themes, references to sexual content, and strong language.
