The Murray City School District has officially released its launch guide details and key dates for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. The district provided a breakdown of registration dates, required documentation, and back-to-school events for parents preparing for the summer months.
Online registration for returning students in grades K–12 opens on July 28. While Kindergarten registration originally opened in March, it will temporarily close on June 18 before reopening alongside the general student population on July 28. Parents of new students, including those enrolling in the Early Childhood Education Center, can also begin the online process via the MCSD Registration Portal starting July 28.
For families where a student previously attended an MCSD school but left the district and is now re-enrolling, registration cannot be completed entirely online. These families must complete the process in person at their specific school during designated registration days.
New students and returning students who previously left the district must provide physical copies of certain verification documents if they have not already submitted them. Required documentation includes proof of identity through a certified birth certificate, passport, or I-94 form, as well as official immunization records and academic transcripts for new high school students covering 9th grade to the present.
Proof of residency requires two distinct documents for families within school boundaries. One primary document, such as a lease agreement, mortgage statement, or utility bill dated within 60 days, must be accompanied by one secondary document like a driver's license, payroll stub, or bank statement also dated within 60 days. Alternatively, a W-2 form or property tax bill dated within 12 months may be used. The district noted that items such as power of attorney, letters from friends, or PO Boxes do not qualify as valid proof of residency.
In-person registration windows vary by location. Notable dates include McMillan on July 31, Hillcrest Junior High for new students on August 3, and Murray High School on August 5. Other elementary schools including Liberty, Parkside, Viewmont, Horizon, Grant, and Longview have registration dates scheduled throughout early August.
Class placement and schedule details for grades 1–12 will be visible online by August 7, 2026. Kindergarten placements will be available on August 20 at 5:00 pm, following assessments held from August 18–20.
The 2026-27 instructional calendar begins on staggered dates. Grade 7 starts on Friday, August 14, 2026, followed by grades 1–6 and 8–12 on Monday, August 17, 2026. Kindergarten officially begins on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
An ESL Parent Registration Assistance Night will be held at Hillcrest Junior High School on August 4, with sessions running from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
