DeAndre Yedlin has been named to Major League Soccer’s Matchday 24 Team of the Matchday Best XI, according to a notice from Real Salt Lake. The veteran defender received the honor following his performance in a 2-2 draw against LAFC at America First Field.
During the match, Real Salt Lake Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni introduced Yedlin into the game as the team sought an equalizer while trailing 2-1. Shortly after his entry, Noel Caliskan scored an equalizer following a deflected shot from Aiden Hezarkhani.
With three minutes remaining, Yedlin prevented a goal by making a sliding defensive play to deny LAFC striker Son Heung-min, who had dribbled past goalkeeper Rafa Cabral. The defensive effort helped preserve the draw for the Claret-and-Cobalt.
Real Salt Lake's upcoming schedule includes a match against the Houston Dynamo and a home game against New York City FC scheduled for September 12. The home match against New York City FC will feature a Teddy Bear Toss during halftime.
