The Carry On Foundation has expanded its operations in Utah, moving into a new warehouse near Daybreak in 2025 following the 2024 opening of its first dedicated skatepark in Provo.
Mental Resilience Through Skateboarding
Originally emerging from Thread Wallets during the pandemic, the foundation utilizes skateboarding as a tool to teach children mental resilience. The program focuses on specific skills including breathing techniques, focus, and 'green, yellow, red' confidence checks.
The foundation also instructs participants on physical safety, specifically teaching students how to fall well during practice.
Program Scope and Reach
The organization serves a youth demographic ranging from 4 to 18 years old. According to the Utah Skatepark Advocacy Group, the foundation currently operates two indoor parks.
In addition to its work in Provo and near Daybreak, the foundation's community reach includes locations in South Jordan.
Salt Lake City Skate Infrastructure
The Salt Lake City area maintains an extensive network of established skate spots, including various ledges, rails, and hubs. Notable locations include the University of Utah Long Hubba/Manny Pad and the Liberty Park Ledges.
Other identified spots in the region feature technical obstacles such as the Dracula 13 Stair Rail and the Salt Palace Downhill Up Ledge.
