A Utah County man who worked as a North Tooele firefighter has been arrested for the alleged exploitation of a minor, according to a September 30 report from Gephardt Daily.
Jay Ronin Hill, 25, was arrested Tuesday for the alleged crime, which is listed as a second-degree felony.
Lehi Police officials began investigating Hill after receiving cybertips regarding downloaded videos involving adult males and juvenile females engaged in illegal acts, according to arrest documents.
A Lehi Police investigator met with Hill at the fire station where he worked in Tooele. Following a Miranda warning, Hill reportedly told investigators that his email account had been shut down because he had downloaded Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Hill stated he had met people in a chat group who offered to share the materials and noted he had been using AI to create pornography and attempting to make the personages look younger.
The North Tooele Fire District issued a statement saying they are aware of the arrest of an employee. The district stated that the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave without pay and has since been terminated.
The district noted it is cooperating with the investigation and said the individual's alleged conduct does not represent the values or standards of the department or the community. Officials said they will defer further questions regarding the investigation to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
