The Daniel Planning Commission met on July 15, 2026, to address several local matters, including business license recommendations and potential municipal code updates, according to meeting minutes.
Chair Gary Weight called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM at the Wasatch County Services Building.
The commission voted to recommend that the Town Council approve business licenses for Davis Concrete Enterprises, Old West Waste Solutions, and Enviro-Crete. Justin Davis addressed the commission regarding these applications.
Davis Concrete Enterprises uses its property for storing forms, trailers, and crane trucks. Old West Waste Solutions uses the site to store bins and dumpsters. Enviro-Crete uses the property to store metal washout bins.
During discussions regarding these businesses, Vice Chair Byron Horner instructed Mr. Davis not to use Little Sweden Road for commercial access. Mr. Davis noted he is seeking additional commercial property to relocate trucks that are occasionally parked on the Little Sweden property.
The commission scheduled a public hearing for August 19, 2026, to discuss an accessory structure application for the Barton property located at 1527 E Little Sweden Rd, as the proposed structure exceeds 1,500 square feet.
Regarding municipal code changes, the commission recommended that the Town Council schedule a Town Hall meeting for late August 2026. A formal public hearing for Daniel Municipal Code changes was scheduled for September 16, 2026.
Commissioners discussed identifying frequently violated or complained-about codes, including conditional use permits across all zones. Vice Chair Horner suggested narrowing the focus of the upcoming Town Hall to three or four key topics, such as land use preferences.
The commission reviewed the 20-year General Plan annexation map with Planning Director Eric Bunker. The commission concurred with a recommendation to place all property contiguous to the Town of Daniel on the map for potential annexation.
Director Bunker noted that the town met with the trails committee regarding potential municipal trails and confirmed the town's fire line map has been adopted and submitted to the Fire Marshal.
The meeting adjourned at 8:12 PM. The commission also approved the minutes from the June 17, 2026, meeting.
