Franklin Elementary School scheduled an annual Title 1 meeting and a statewide read-a-thon for Oct. 2, 2026, as part of a busy month of student recognition and community engagement. The events, which coincide with an afternoon session for the Reflections Project, follow recent celebrations for advanced readers and kindergarten milestones at the school.
Upcoming October Events
On Oct. 2, 2026, Franklin Elementary will host a series of events designed to engage students and families. The school's schedule for that day includes an annual Title 1 meeting at 9:00 a.m., followed by a statewide read-a-thon at 9:30 a.m. The day's activities will conclude with an Afterschool Reflections Project session at 1:45 p.m. in the school gym.
In addition to these upcoming events, the school continues to manage various student resources and meal programs. According to school documentation, the campus provides several services including PowerSchool for grades and attendance, Canvas for learning, and a dedicated student health toolkit. The school also maintains a comprehensive meals menu and provides resources for families to apply for free and reduced meals.
Celebrating High-Speed Readers
The school recently held a Falcon of the Month Assembly to recognize students who demonstrated exceptional reading skills. During the event, the School Resource Officer (SRO) helped celebrate students who met or exceeded their grade-level reading goals during their beginning-of-year Acadience Reading assessments.
To celebrate these high-achieving 'speed readers,' the SRO issued special speeding tickets to the students. Each ticket was paired with a clip-on reading light to encourage continued reading. School officials indicated that more of these celebratory speeding tickets will be distributed throughout October.
Kindergarten Alphabet Milestone
Kindergarten students at Franklin Elementary recently reached a major milestone in their literacy development. After working to learn the alphabet, the students earned a special badge for every letter they mastered.
To celebrate the achievement, students added their final ABC badges to their vests and participated in a parade around the school building to showcase their hard work.
Community Council and LAND Trust
The school's Community Council, a committee of parents, staff, and administrators, meets every other month to discuss various educational and student issues. The council is responsible for reviewing student assessments and progress to determine academic focus areas for the School LAND Trust program. These funds, generated from school trust lands, represent one of the few discretionary funds available to public schools in Utah.
According to the council's guidelines, members are expected to make decisions with student needs as the primary objective and to maintain accountability and integrity. The council also addresses responsibilities assigned by the Utah Legislature regarding school safety and digital citizenship.
School Improvement Funding
The school's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan integrates several different funding and planning streams, including the School Improvement Plan (SIP), the Trustland Plans, and the Teacher, Student Success Act (TSSA) plans.
For the current period, the TSSA plan provides $69,154.92 in available funding to the school to support these academic and improvement initiatives.
School Operating Hours
Franklin Elementary maintains a structured schedule for its students, with classes for kindergarten through 6th grade running from 8:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, the school day concludes earlier, at 1:30 p.m.
