The Orem City Council has released an agenda for a meeting scheduled for September 8, 2026, according to a September 5 statement. The meeting will include a work session beginning at 3:00 P.M. and a regular session starting at 6:00 P.M. at the Council Chambers.
The work session is scheduled to include a presentation by Planning Director Jared Hall regarding detached accessory dwelling units. Additionally, Deputy City Attorneys Keri Rugg and D. Jacob Summers are scheduled to present a Central Dispatch Resolution. The work session will also feature a 90-minute discussion on short-term rentals led by D. Jacob Summers.
The regular session includes several presentations, such as a recognition of the Central Utah Water Conservancy District by Mike Whimpey and Art Leeflang, and an update on Build a Better Orem awards from HR Director Amy Peterson. Other presentations include Constitution Month, a report from the Library Advisory Commission, a summer reading wrap-up, and a report from the Neighborhood Advisory Commission and Beautification Awards.
The council will hold a public hearing for several ordinance amendments presented by Assistant City Attorney Aaron McKnight. These amendments involve various city code sections, including regulations for residential zones, parking requirements, and definitions regarding nuisances and trailer houses. Additionally, the council will consider a resolution presented by City Attorney Steve Earl expressing opposition to the proposed Vesper Amphitheater development.
The meeting will take place at 56 North State Street, Orem, Utah. While the meeting is public, officials requested that only invited presenters or those specifically invited by the Mayor or City Council speak during the work session to ensure efficiency.
