A power outage affected much of the north side of Richfield after a teenager crashed a vehicle on Oct. 11. The crash occurred on a dirt road located just north of the Rocky Mountain Power building.
The teenager was reportedly driving a Toyota 4
Runner too fast while attempting to return to school after lunch. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which knocked over a power pole and rolled down an embankment into the parking lot of the Rocky Mountain Power buildings, where it struck a transformer.
Emergency personnel checked the driver, who was sent home with no major injuries. While the outage impacted many residents, the power company responded quickly to restore electricity.
Due to complications caused by the power outage, the Richfield courthouse was closed as of 3 p.m. on the 11th.
