The Ogden Valley City Council held a special meeting and work session on July 27, 2026, to address municipal organization and city planning updates, according to meeting minutes approved on August 18.
During the meeting, the council approved new business licenses for Eden Bakery, Dale Fleming, Big Powder Ski Shop, Wasatch Roasting, and Hanks Bistro & Brew. City Planner Brian Carver noted that business license applications from early July required processing by the end of the month.
Regarding planning, Carver stated that the Planning Commission hearing originally scheduled for August 11 was moved to August 25. If the timeline permits, the matter may reach the City Council by the first meeting in September.
In the work session, council members discussed the roles and responsibilities of the Mayor and the Council. Council member Don Hickman noted that under the current structure, the Mayor serves as the CEO with executive authority, while the council holds legislative authority to provide direction, laws, and the budget. Council member Chad Booth suggested a need to further examine the responsibilities of both the Mayor and the Council.
The council also discussed potential new advisory groups, including a business association, financial advisory groups for grant funding and economic development, and a weed board. Discussion was held regarding the formation of committees that would be co-chaired by council members.
In other updates, the council noted that a brief was filed with the Supreme Court to appeal Truth-in-Taxation. Additionally, the county has mailed tax assessment statements to residents, who can review Ogden Valley taxes via the unincorporated county line items.
Mayor Janet Wampler noted that a meeting scheduled for August 3 was set to begin at noon. The council also discussed the appointment of Deena Loyola as a communications volunteer for social media and the website, and the ongoing search for a replacement Treasurer.
