Real Salt Lake has reincorporated homegrown forward Diego Rocío following his time with Liga MX club Club América. Rocío, who was signed for 2026, spent the first half of the 2026 MLS campaign in Mexico City.
During his tenure with Las Águilas, Rocío trained with the first team and appeared in multiple matches for the reserve squad. Club América finished in eighth position in the Clausura 2025-26 tournament this spring, securing a playoff spot before falling to Pumas UNAM in the quarterfinals.
Las Águilas also secured a place in the Leagues Cup 2026 knockout stage, finishing second among Liga MX participants. Their performance included seven points following victories over San Diego FC and Portland Timbers, and a penalty shootout loss to Austin FC after a 1-1 draw.
Rocío previously spent time in 2025 with the Real Monarchs and the RSL Academy. During the 2025 campaign, he appeared in two matches for the Real Monarchs. He also helped eliminate his former club in the quarterfinals of the 2025 MLS NEXT Cup by scoring from a penalty in a 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union U-18 team.
Having represented both the United States and Mexico at the youth levels, the dual-national player most recently earned a call-up to the Mexican U-18 national team, making two appearances in September 2025.
Real Salt Lake remains on tour for a three-game away series. Following a 2-1 loss to Orlando City SC, the team was scheduled to face Club León in a Leagues Cup quarterfinal match on Tuesday, August 25, in Denver. The team is scheduled to play the Colorado Rapids for the Rocky Mountain Cup on Saturday, August 29.
