Real Salt Lake completes a three-game road swing on Saturday with a match against Rocky Mountain Cup rival Colorado Rapids. According to a report published August 27, a win or draw in the 7:30 p.m. MT kickoff would secure the fan-created Cup for the 15th time in the 22-year series.
The match takes place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City. Real Salt Lake enters the contest looking to snap several active streaks, including a three-game losing streak across all competitions and a seven-game winless run in MLS action dating back to May 16. The club also seeks to end an eight-game road run without a win that has lasted since March 7.
All-time, Real Salt Lake holds a 26-10-9 record against the Rapids in MLS regular season play. The club last captured the Rocky Mountain Cup in 2023, marking its seventh consecutive win in the series, excluding the disputed 2020 award. Overall, the club has won 14 of the 20 editions of the trophy.
The contest is part of a critical stretch for the club, representing the 10th match in a sequence of 12 games in 44 days across MLS and Leagues Cup. Real Salt Lake was recently eliminated from the 2026 Leagues Cup at the Quarterfinal stage by Club León.
Earlier this year, rookie Sergi Solans scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Colorado. Solans has recorded 13 goals this season, setting a new RSL rookie scoring record.
Following the road trip, Real Salt Lake is scheduled to return home for matches against LAFC on Sept. 5, NYCFC on Sept. 12, and Vancouver on Sept. 19. Tickets for all home events remain available via the club's website.
