Cherry Creek Elementary announced its Wildly Important Goals for the 2026 school year during a school assembly on Sept. 11, 2026, establishing targets for student character development and nightly reading habits.
Student Character Goals
The school's first primary objective involves student character development through the implementation of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Students. According to the school, the goal is for every student in the school to earn two Croc Claws over the course of the school year. Students can earn a Croc Claw by demonstrating one of the 7 Habits.
Literacy and Reading Milestones
The second major initiative focuses on literacy and consistent reading habits. The school established a goal for students to complete nightly reading in order to earn reading tickets. The administration set a school-wide target to collect 10,000 tickets by the time the Reading Carnival takes place in May.
Achieving School Objectives
To achieve these objectives, the school emphasized the importance of students being proactive, putting first things first, and synergizing. The administration noted that if every student lives the 7 Habits and maintains a nightly reading routine, the school can reach its collective targets.
Call for Parent Volunteers
In addition to academic and character goals, Cherry Creek Elementary has been seeking community involvement through its Parent Teacher Association. On Sept. 3, 2026, the PTA announced a continued need for four room parents to support specific classrooms. The school is currently looking for volunteers to serve in the Anderson, Jensen, Zambrano, and Jenkins classrooms to help make the school year special.
