Salt Lake City began a transportation study in 2025 to identify solutions for improving connectivity across the west-east divide. The two-year planning effort is funded by the US Department of Transportation’s Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program.
The study has analyzed transportation needs across various modes, including driving, walking, biking, and transit. It has also involved direct engagement with residents and stakeholders to define problems and co-create solutions.
According to a notice on the project website, the current phase involves reviewing three categories of recommended solutions: Crossings and Corridors, Westside Mobility Plans, and Community Investments. Residents are encouraged to use a survey to rank crossings and corridor locations by priority to help identify where improvements are needed most. This input will assist the city in prioritizing locations for future engineering design and construction funding.
The prioritization survey for recommended solutions is open through September 11. This feedback will be included in the final WE Connect plan, which is expected to be finalized later this year.
