NASA has selected Southern Utah University to lead a statewide hub designed to connect students to hands-on careers in space exploration and aerospace. According to a notice from the university, the hub was scheduled for August 19, 2026.
Southern Utah University has received several recognitions for its various programs and partnerships. The university earned four honors at the Utah PRSA Golden Spike Awards Gala on December 19, 2025. Additionally, the Building Apprenticeship Systems in Cybersecurity (BASIC) program was named an Outstanding Registered Apprenticeship Sponsor on December 9, 2024.
In a separate development, Forbes and Statista Inc. included the university on the 2024 list of America’s Best-In-State Employers. The university has also maintained a significant academic collaboration with the Best Friends Animal Society, which was recognized on the annual Best Workplaces for Innovators list as a result of the partnership.
Other university initiatives include community education programs and entrepreneurship support through SUU Startup. The university also provides scholarships to members of the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah for professional development courses.
