The Hyde Park Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Sept. 2, 2026, to consider three separate proposed amendments to the city's Land Use Code. The hearing, scheduled for 7:00 PM at 113 E. Center St., will address changes to accessory dwelling unit definitions, subdivision improvement requirements, and property tax provisions for land use applications.
Proposed Land Use Amendments
The proposed legislative changes include three distinct ordinance amendments. According to a notice from the Hyde Park Planning Department, Ordinance Amendment 2026-18 seeks to amend the definitions and regulations for accessory dwelling units within Title 12 of the Land Use Code.
Additionally, the commission will review Ordinance Amendment 2026-19, which targets Title 12 and Title 13. The City of Hyde Park stated that this amendment is intended to bring current land use applications in line with property tax provisions, while also addressing minor grammatical issues and providing clarifications in wording within the code.
Subdivision and Tax Provisions
A third legislative focus involves Title 13 of the Land Use Code. The Hyde Park Planning Department has proposed Ordinance Amendment 2026-16, which would require a Subdivision Improvements Agreement to be recorded with every subdivision Final Plat.
All three amendments are currently under review by the Planning Commission. The city has made full redlines of the proposed changes available for public review on the official City Website.
