A 29-year-old Logan woman has accepted a plea deal in an assault case involving an injured 46-year-old man, according to court records.
Ashley Victoria Winsor appeared in Logan’s 1st District Court and pleaded no contest to attempted kidnapping, which was amended to a third-degree felony. An additional felony charge was dismissed as part of the agreement.
Prosecutors stated the incident occurred on Oct. 27, 2025, when the victim attempted to unplug a television after his sister, Shannon Leigh Karpowich, refused to turn down the music. Karpowich allegedly punched the man in the face, causing him to fall.
Winsor and Kelly G. Olson then reportedly pinned the victim's arms while Karpowich repeatedly punched him in the head and groin. The victim, who was recovering from two back surgeries and a broken foot, was also shoved over a small table, causing severe torso trauma and breaking the table. The victim's mother reportedly found the three suspects standing over the man without providing aid.
Winsor is currently out of jail on $20,000 bail and faces a sentencing date of March 23, which could result in up to five years in prison.
The case involves two other defendants. On Feb. 2, Karpowich was ordered to serve 90 days in jail followed by 48 months of probation after pleading guilty to aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury and kidnapping, a second-degree felony. Her sentence includes requirements for anger management, substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, and no contact with the victim.
Olson has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony. He is scheduled to appear in court again on March 16.
The victim was hospitalized overnight with a black eye, severe bruising, and three broken ribs in four places, requiring the use of supplemental oxygen.
