Emergency Response and Incident Details
The investigation began at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, when dispatchers received an initial call from a woman reporting that a 14-year-old male family member was at her home and making statements regarding self-harm, according to Gephardt Daily.
Shortly after deputies were dispatched to the residence, the same woman placed a second 911 call. In this follow-up communication, she reported that she had been injured and stated that her husband remained inside the home with the juvenile, who was armed with a knife, Gephardt Daily reported.
Search for Juvenile Suspect
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found the injured woman outside of the residence being assisted by neighbors. A news release from the Tooele County Sheriff's Office stated that deputies immediately entered the home, where they located the deceased 66-year and male.
Following the discovery, law enforcement officers conducted a search of both the residence and the surrounding area. During this search, investigators determined that the juvenile suspect had fled the home. Authorities eventually located the boy approximately two blocks west of the residence, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Medical Treatment and Legal Status
Following his arrest, the 14-year-old was evaluated by medical personnel before being booked into a juvenile detention center. The woman who was injured during the incident was transported to a local hospital for treatment; she has since been released, according to reports.
Detectives with the Tooele County Sheriff's Office have officially classified the incident as a homicide and stated that the investigation remains ongoing. Because the suspect is a juvenile, the Sheriff's Office has declined to release any identifying information.
