The Utah Transit Authority announced the launch of expanded UTA On Demand service in northern Utah County starting Sunday, August 16, as part of Fall Change Day 2026. The agency also announced that the Ogden Express bus rapid transit route will remain Zero Fare until Spring Change Day 2028, supported by federal operating assistance through a partnership between Ogden City, the Wasatch Front Regional Council, and UTA.
The new UTA On Demand service, which is a curb-to-curb microtransit service designed for first- and last-mile connections, will operate in portions of Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs, Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Lindon, Highland, Cedar Hills, and Alpine. This service zone covers 77 square miles and includes destinations such as the Lehi FrontRunner Station, American Folk FrontRunner Station, Primary Children's Hospital - Lehi, Saratoga Springs Emergency, Eagle Mountain Senior Center, Lehi Junior High, Vista Heights Middle School, Lake Mountain Middle School, Willowcreek Middle School, and American Fork Junior High. The service is sponsored by Utah County and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT).
Jay Fox, executive director of UTA, stated that the new service in northern Utah County is an important step in ensuring transportation options keep pace with the rapid growth in that area. Fox noted that the service will provide residents more flexibility to connect with FrontRunner, other UTA services, and key destinations throughout the area.
Other service changes being implemented on Fall Change Day include:
Route 54: An intermediate detour using the north entrance of Murray Central Station will become permanent.
Route 205: The route is returning to its regular route on 600 North and 700 North.
Route 470: This route has been extended to Salt Lake Central for additional service and connections.
Route 472: This route has been extended to 17th Street/Wall Avenue for additional service and connections.
Additionally, several schedule adjustments were made to improve accuracy, safety, and reliability.
UTA implements new and adjusted services three times each year during Spring, Fall, and Winter Change Days. These updates are based on systemwide analysis, community requests, feedback, and operational and cost considerations to increase transit access and improve quality of life in the region.
