Freshman outside hitter Lexie Carlson led Weber State volleyball to three consecutive victories during the Wildcat Invitational. The Wildcats started their 2026 season with a 3-0 record through sweeps of San Francisco, San Jose State, and Belmont.
Carlson, a South Jordan native and Bingham High graduate, recorded 48 kills and a .396 hitting percentage across the three matches. Coach Jeremiah Larsen noted in a postgame interview posted to WSU social media that Carlson did a heck of a job.
The Wildcats opened the weekend with a 25-18, 22-25, 25-13, 25-16 win over San Francisco. Carlson totaled 10 kills in that match, while Rose Moore recorded eight kills and Ziya Munyer served five aces.
Weber State also defeated San Jose State 25-15, 25-22, 25-21 on Saturday morning. Carlson contributed 17 kills and Moore added 13 kills. Morgan Pratt recorded 25 assists and Marley Pratt had 13 digs.
The weekend concluded with a five-set victory over Belmont, with scores of 25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-11. Carlson finished the weekend with 21 kills, while Moore had 18 and newcomer Tennille Gonder recorded 14. Stacia Barker totaled 5.5 blocks.
Weber State volleyball is scheduled to travel to California for matches against Cal State Bakersfield. Meanwhile, Weber State women's soccer lost 3-0 to Long Beach State, dropping the team to a 2-2-1 record for the season.
