One of two women reported missing at Sand Hollow Reservoir has been found dead, according to a September 18 report. The recovery follows an incident on Tuesday, Sept. 15, involving a jet ski.
The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, when two women fell from a jet ski being operated by Antonio Omari Lewis, 23. According to ABC4, the fall resulted from a high-speed turn followed by a collision with a wave.
Witnesses stated that neither person on the jet ski was wearing a life jacket. Additionally, witnesses reported that Lewis had been consuming alcohol that day, a claim corroborated by a sobriety test conducted at the scene.
Authorities did not specify if the recovered body belonged to one of the two women, who were 26 and 28 years old. Witnesses cited by KUTV noted that one of the women was four months pregnant with twins. As of Thursday afternoon, the second woman remained missing while search and investigation efforts continued.
Antonio Omari Lewis faces several charges, including vehicular homicide, operating a vessel without a personal flotation device, and violating speed and navigation rules. The Utah Division of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division expressed condolences regarding the case.
