Six Utah-based MountainStar Healthcare facilities earned recognition as Blue Distinction Centers+ for maternity care, according to a September 4 statement. The designation, awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield, honors hospitals that demonstrate a history of exceptional care and results.
The recognized facilities include Ogden Regional Medical Center, Cache Valley Hospital, Lone Peak Hospital, Mountain View Hospital, St. Mark’s Hospital, and Timpanogos Regional Hospital. According to Blue Cross and Blue Shield, these plus-level providers meet quality criteria such as lower rates of elective deliveries, lower cesarean births, and fewer episiotomies. They also demonstrate affordable maternity care, with a recent program survey showing an overall average savings of 21%.
Jenn Gibson-Speicher, who leads MountainStar’s women’s and children’s programs, stated that the network welcomes nearly 9,000 babies each year across its Utah locations. She noted that all the Utah centers receiving this designation belong to the MountainStar Healthcare family.
MountainStar Healthcare is a part of HCA Healthcare and operates approximately 80 sites of care ranging from Logan to Payson. The network's services include eight hospitals, 14 emergency rooms, eight urgent care clinics, and 10 surgery centers.
