Four BYU football players were named to the 2026 Sports Info Solutions Preseason All-Big 12 Team, according to Sports Info Solutions.
Included in the selections are cornerback Evan Johnson, safety Faletua Satuala, and running back LJ Martin on the First Team, while center Bruce Mitchell was named to the second team.
LJ Martin, a senior from El Paso, Texas, was recently selected as the Big 12 Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. In 2025, Martin rushed for 1,305 yards, which ranked 11th nationally and was the seventh-most single-season total in school history. He was also named a preseason All-American by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele and was included on the Maxwell Award preseason watch list.
Cornerback Evan Johnson, a senior from Monterey, California, finished the 2025 season with five interceptions, which tied for the most in the Big 12. Johnson was recently named the No. 4 returning cornerback in the country by Pro Football & Sports Network and was selected to the Phil Steele 2026 Preseason All-Big 12 Second Team.
Safety Faletua Satuala, a junior from Bountiful, Utah, was named to the 2026 preseason All-America and All-Big 12 teams by Athlon Sports. Satuala, who played in all 13 games for the No. 12-ranked Cougars in 2025, led the team with 78 tackles and 2 forced fumbles.
Center Bruce Mitchell, a senior from Kamas, Utah, was named to the Phil Steele and Athlon Sports Preseason All-Big 12 First Teams. Mitchell was also named a preseason All-America Second Team by Phil Steele and a Third Team by Athlon Sports.
As a junior in 2025, Mitchell started all 14 games and anchored an offensive line that ranked in the top 25 in 10 different offensive statistics, including ranking 12th nationally for fewest sacks allowed.
BYU is scheduled to begin its 2026 football season against Utah Tech on Saturday, Sept. 5 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with a scheduled kickoff at 6 p.m. MDT.
